How to find your computer name


For UPIC to remote into your computer and provide assistance they will need the name of the computer. Please follow the steps below to get the name of your computer. These instructions will also be available under the “IT-FAQs” folder located in the public drive.

  • Click on the “Windows” icon on your local machine outside of the UPIC environment.




  • Next click on the “gear” icon



  • Once the “Window Settings” is launched, click on the option for “System”



  • Scroll down and look at the left panel for an option called “About” and click it.







  • If you look in the right panel, under the section “Device Specifications”, the “Device Name” is the name of your computer, provide UPIC the last four characters of the device name.
